Straight out of the Earth, Gemtera's rough opals from Ethiopia originated from a volcano millions of years ago.  Yet, they were discovered only recently, shocking the world with their ultimate brilliance and color.  A mixture of opalescence and "fire" opal veins, these opals yield an unusual number of colors that even look great rough.  But they also can be worked to great big, beautiful finished, gems.  It's up to you!

The stone(s) you will receive will range in size from .2 grams (about the size of an eraser) to 5 grams (about the size of the knob on a car radio).  

Gemtera's rough opals are sold by weight: Each quantity unit you order is an additional weight unit - 0.2 grams minimum for raibow opals, and 4 grams minimum for fire opals (the orange ones).  You will receive a stone or assortment of stones of various sizes summing to the total weight you order.
